What Our Members Say

“I started going to SAFETECH about 5 years ago. Since then, I have experienced in-depth teachings, formed relationships and friendships that have helped me grow as a safe technician. I was ableto grow my proficiency as a manipulator, while placing first and second place in the yearly Manipulation contests.

When I go out to a job and see that some other tech has butchered a beautifulsafe or any safe for that matter, then I find out they're not a part of SAVTA, it really opens myeyes and shows that this is what could happen when you skip important steps that should berequired in this specialization. Don't be that person. Save yourself that embarrassment and joinSAVTA! Thank you to the Board and teachers of SAVTA”

“I joined SAVTA in 1986 and have had continuous membership ever since. SAVTA is an organization that helps safe technicians through articles in the magazine and the conventions, professional training and contacts with other like-minded safe technicians. You have to put in a little effort to get a little something out of any organization.

I have been retired now for about 15 years after being in the industry for over 50 years and I believe that SAVTA was one of the best investments I made. The contacts I gained from going to the conventions and classes helped in my successes, and it was well worth the expenses. Because of SAVTA, I have traveled all over the world and almost every State repairing safes and vaults and teaching our trade to almost every “three-letter agency” and even foreign allies of the U.S. It’s been a great ride! Get involved and start your journey.”

I started in the locksmithing industry in 1980.   Early on, I mostly concentrated on residential and automotive.   But in the mid-90s, I “saw the writing on the wall” and knew that I wanted to get out of car work.

I had started to develop an interest in safe work.  So, I decided to go “all in.” I joined SAVTA in 1997.  And by the early 2000s, I had stopped doing automotive and residential altogether and started concentrating on safe opening and servicing.  Now, over a quarter century later, I can look back and see that it was one of the best decisions I made in my life.  And belonging to SAVTA was a huge part of that success."

“Our business, glorified in movies and TV shows, is quite a niche profession. Many people find it hard to believe that safecracking is an actual occupation. When I tell them that there is a worldwide association where we collaborate and share ideas, I get the side-eye. Even more so when I tell them there’s an actual annual convention where we get top-level training from the experts around the globe. Working for a major company in the industry affords me a built-in link to database materials and advice. But having a network such as SAVTA to draw confidential intel such as drilling coordinates and tribal knowledge on repairs, allows you to stand in front of your customer with the confidence of 1,000 men in your pocket. Now that’s power to succeed!”
